About Us

Comprehensive School History of Zaka High School

1. Establishment & Founding Vision Zaka High School was established in 1981, shortly after Zimbabwe gained independence, as part of the national mandate to democratize and expand access to secondary education across rural communities. Founded as a co-educational (boys and girls) rural day school, it was designed to bridge the educational gap in the Zaka district by providing accessible, high-quality secondary and non-formal learning opportunities to local youth.

2. Geographical & Cultural Roots Situated in Chivanganye Village under Ward 8 in the Chief Ndanga area of Zaka, the school was grounded in the rich cultural fabric of Masvingo province. From its inception, the institution aimed not only to offer academic instruction but also to instill strong community-oriented values, patriotic duty, and the foundational African philosophy of Unhu (Ubuntu).

3. Governance & Administrative Growth
● Official Registration: The school is formally registered with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education under Registration Number 1228.
● Responsible Authority: Ownership and administrative stewardship fall under the Zaka Rural District Council (Zaka RDC) (Private Bag 500, Jerera, Masvingo).
Through this local government body, the school has consistently maintained its structural development, infrastructure governance, and alignment with regional educational priorities.

4. Institutional Ethos & Legacy Guided by its motto, “Deeds Not Words,” Zaka High School has continuously emphasized actionable leadership, practical skills, and character building. Over the decades, it has evolved into a vital educational hub providing competence-driven curricula that prepare students both academically and socially for national development.
